Commercial banks to exceptionally open branches on Saturday 27 January 2018 at the request of the Governor of the Bank of Mauritius

On Thursday 25 January 2018, a request was made by the Governor of the Bank of Mauritius, Mr Yandraduth Googoolye, to the Mauritius Bankers Association (MBA) to exceptionally consider the opening of branches of commercial banks on Saturday 27 January 2018.

This request from Governor Googoolye was motivated by customer-centric considerations. These pertain to the implications of the recent adverse weather conditions with regard to accessibility to banking services and the fact that there will be two public holidays in the course of the forthcoming week.

In light of the Governor’s request, the MBA has informed the Bank of Mauritius that all commercial banks conducting retail banking activities will open counters to the public, some on a selective basis, from 9h00 to 12h00 on Saturday 27 January 2018.

The Bank of Mauritius informs the public that information regarding the list of branches of commercial banks to be open on Saturday 27 January 2018 will be posted by the domestic banking institutions on their respective websites and on the MBA's website.
