The Bank of Mauritius together with a number of commercial banks operating in Mauritius sponsored the eleventh edition of the Inter Club Youth Championships. The event was organised in collaboration with the Mauritius Athletic Association (MAA) and was held on Saturday 25 and Sunday 26 November 2017 at Maryse Justin Stadium, Réduit.
This year around 875 athletes participated in the championships from different clubs in Mauritius and Rodrigues. Fifteen best athletes from Rodrigues, selected following preliminaries held at Camp Du Roi Stadium, on Saturday 28 October 2017, participated in the two-day event in Mauritius.
The following national records were established this year:
· Shotput Colt – Boys with a throw of 10m45 established by Michael Beehary of Rose Hill AC.
· High Jump Benjamin – Boys with Jump of 1m72 established by Florian Ladouceur of Guepard AC.
· 100M Minim– Boys in 11.17s established by Alvin Rughoodass of Medine AC.
· 150M Benjamin – Boys in 17.93s established by Lawrence Herry of Medine AC.
· 120M Colt – Girls in 16.92s established by Maeva Julie of Black River Star AC.
· 60m Hurdles Benjamin – Girls in 10.37s established by Kimberley Kistnah of Boulet Rouge AC.
