The Bank of Mauritius sponsored the sixth edition of the National Inter Club Youth Championships 2012, which was held on Friday 30 November 2012 and Saturday 01 December 2012 at Maryse Justin Stadium, Réduit. A number of banks also contributed to the sponsorship.
The participation of athletes increased to 1000 this year and comprised 650 athletes from 26 clubs in Mauritius and 350 athletes who took part in the preliminaries of the Inter Club Youth Championships held in Rodrigues on Saturday 10 November 2012. Fifteen best athletes were selected from Rodrigues to compete in the finals in Mauritius.
During the two-day final competition held in Mauritius, the following four national records were established:
- 800 metres for girls (in the category Benjamin) in 2 mins and 33.91s as compared to the previous record of 2 mins and 35.91s
- 50 metres for boys (in the category Benjamin) in 6.51s as compared to the previous record of 6.60s
- 4 x 100 metres for boys (in the category Benjamin) in 48.43s as compared to the previous record of 49.83s
- Triple Jump for boys (in the category Benjamin) at 12m 28 as compared to the previous record of 11m 92
One national record of 50 metres for girls (in the category of Benjamin) was equalised at 6.30s
