A platinum commemorative coin of Rs1200 denomination in proof condition has been issued on 16 December 2011. It is the third coin, which completes the collection, issued in the "Father of the Nation" Platinum series to pay tribute to Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam in laying the foundation stone of the Mauritian nation.
The design on the obverse of the coin depicts the Morne Brabant, with the inscription "Rs1200" underneath and with the surrounding inscription "FATHER OF THE NATION PLATINUM SERIES * MAURITIUS 2011 * MORNE BRABANT*" .
The design on the reverse of the coin bears an effigy of Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam with the inscription ' DR THE RIGHT HONOURABLE SIR SEEWOOSAGUR RAMGOOLAM KT *'
The coin is in a transparent acrylic protection capsule contained in a blue case with the logo of the Bank of Mauritius on top. A Certificate of Authenticity issued by Monnaie De Paris giving the specifications of the coin is enclosed in the presentation case.
The coin is circular in shape with a diameter of 22 mm and weighs 6,2 grams. Its platinum content is 1/5 oz. The price of the platinum coin may be adjusted based on the price of platinum on the international market.
