It has come to the attention of the Bank of Mauritius (the ‘Bank’) that an entity bearing the name ‘Tranz Digital Bank’ is purporting to be a fully registered and licensed digital bank in Mauritius on its website, https://tranzdb.com.
Members of the public are hereby informed that the above entity is neither licensed nor regulated by the Bank as a digital bank.
The public is advised to verify if an entity is duly licensed by the Bank before engaging with any website for an entity that claims to be licensed by it.
A list of financial institutions licensed under the Banking Act is available on the Bank’s website at the following link https://www.bom.mu/financial-stability/supervision/licensees/list-of-licensees.
A list of the Bank’s licensees under the National Payment Systems Act 2018 is also available on the Bank’s website at the following link https://www.bom.mu/payment-systems/licensing/list-licensees.
Members of the public are further reminded that, except as otherwise provided for in the Banking Act 2004, no person, other than a bank duly licensed by the Bank, shall use the word “bank” or any of its derivatives in any language in the description or title under which that person is carrying on business in Mauritius, or make any such representation in any billhead, letter, paper, notice, advertisement or in any other manner whatsoever.
