Public Notice: Issue of Dodo Gold coins

  1. The Bank of Mauritius announces the issue of a new edition of Dodo Gold Coins of one tenth ounce, quarter ounce and one ounce.  
  2. The design on the obverse of the Dodo Gold coins depicts a new portrait of the late former Prime Minister, Sir Anerood Jugnauth, GCSK, KCMG, QC, PC with the following surrounding inscription: “THE Rt HON SIR ANEROOD JUGNAUTH GCSK, KCMG, QC, PC” followed by “MAURITIUS”. 
  3. The design on the reverse of the Dodo Gold coins features the same image of the Dodo bird as on the previous edition with the inscription “.2022.  THE DODO.” and the denomination in the upper half, whilst the inscription denoting the gold content appears in the lower half.
  4. The coins have been minted by The Royal Mint, United Kingdom.
  5. The coins will be legal tender in accordance with Section 37(1) of the Bank of Mauritius Act 2004 for the face value stated thereon.
  6. The Dodo Gold coins in proof condition will be available for sale at the Bank of Mauritius as from Thursday 15 December 2022.
