The Bank of Mauritius (Bank) has progressed on its research for the potential implementation of a retail Central Bank Digital Currency, the Digital Rupee[1]. In this respect, the Bank has embarked on a pilot project starting with one commercial bank.
There are other pilots in the pipeline. Other commercial banks and members of the public will be invited to join the pilot in due course.
