Media Release: Bank of Mauritius Governor Dr Priscilla Muthoora Thakoor appointed Chairperson of the IILM Governing Board

Bank of Mauritius Governor Dr Priscilla Muthoora Thakoor has been appointed Chairperson of the Governing Board of the International Islamic Liquidity Management Corporation (IILM) further to its meeting held today. Dr Muthoora Thakoor succeeds the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Mr Olayemi Michael Cardoso.  

Headquartered in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, the IILM stands as a pivotal global institution committed to fostering cross-border investment flows, strengthening international linkages, and enhancing financial stability through the creation of liquid Shari’ah-compliant financial instruments. Since its establishment in October 2010, the IILM has played a crucial role in supporting Islamic financial institutions during periods of liquidity stress and providing them with access to highly rated liquidity instruments.

In the wake of her appointment, Dr Muthoora Thakoor stated: ” The Bank of Mauritius feels privileged to be able to contribute to the advancement of Islamic finance globally and ensuring robust governance standards.”
