Communiqué: Financial Literacy & Central Bank Perceptions Survey for Mauritius

25 July 2014, Bank of Mauritius

The Bank of Mauritius (Bank) is undertaking for the first time a ‘Financial Literacy and Central Bank Perceptions Survey’ (FLS2014) between the 28 July to 14 August 2014. It will contribute to gauge the level of financial literacy of the population at large and will help the Bank develop strategies to sensitise the public to manage, invest or save their financial resources. The survey will also enable an assessment of the level of awareness of the population relating to the activities of the central bank.

The FLS2014 will be carried out in Mauritius and will cover a sample of 2,000 adults aged 18+ from the different regions of the island. The interviews will be conducted by qualified employees of the Bank by telephone. The information gathered will be treated in strict confidence by the Statistics Division of the Bank and will not be accessible to any third party within or outside the Bank. The information supplied will be published by the Bank in aggregated form only.

The Bank is therefore seeking the collaboration of all Mauritians in order to make this survey a success and thanks all survey participants in advance.
