Communiqué: Coin Deposit Campaign

16 July 2012, Bank of Mauritius

The Bank of Mauritius is engaging in a “Coin Deposit Campaign” with the objective of encouraging   the public in general to put back into circulation coins in their possession which are lying idle.

Banks have agreed to lend support to the Bank of Mauritius in this campaign.
The Bank of Mauritius invites the public to seize this opportunity to deposit their idle coin holdings in their bank accounts or exchange them for bank notes at any branch of a bank. The cooperation of the public is kindly sought to separate their coins, denomination-wise, prior to calling at the counters of banks to facilitate this exercise.
The Bank of Mauritius remains committed to improving the quality of bank notes and coins in circulation, maintaining the integrity of our currency and providing an adequate supply of bank notes and coins to satisfy the needs of the public.
The Bank of Mauritius wishes to thank banks and members of the public for their usual collaboration and support.
For any additional information, members of the public may contact the Banking and Currency Division, Bank of Mauritius on 202 3839 or 202 3880.
