Coin Deposit Campaign

16 June 2014, Bank of Mauritius

On 16 July 2012, the Bank of Mauritius (Bank) launched the “Coin Deposit Campaign” with the objective of encouraging the public in general to put back into circulation coins in their possession which are lying idle. The Bank hereby informs the general public that the campaign is ongoing.

The Bank has enlisted the support of all banks in the country in the campaign.

The Bank invites the public to deposit their idle coin holdings into their bank accounts or exchange them for banknotes at any branch of a bank. The cooperation of the public is kindly sought to separate their coins, denomination-wise, prior to calling at the counters of banks to facilitate this exercise.

The Bank remains committed to improving the quality of banknotes and coins in circulation, maintaining the integrity of our currency and providing an adequate supply of banknotes and coins to satisfy the needs of the public.

The Bank wishes to thank banks and members of the public for their usual collaboration and support.

For any additional information, members of the public may contact the Banking and Currency Division, Bank of Mauritius, on 202 3839.
