Banking Your Future Contest Rules

Eligibility Requirements

Two categories will be accepted for entries for the competition:

i. Secondary school students of the Republic of Mauritius, above the age of 16;

ii. University students and young professionals who graduated in the last two years, under the age of 35 years by the closing date of the competition.

 

The participants must submit all entries on or before 30 September 2014.

 

Regulations

All entries must comply with the following:
  •  Each entry must reflect the participant's own research, writing and original thinking.
  • Group participation will be accepted on behalf of colleges, and a special prize will be awarded to the institution with the most entries.
  • Only one (1) entry may be submitted per participant or group.
  • Entries must be typed and should be submitted in two hard copies as well as a soft copy.
  • Request for additional information should be addressed to taskforce@bom.mu
  • Entries should be sent by post to the following address:

         Second Deputy Governor

         Bank of Mauritius

         Sir William Newton Street

         Port Louis

  • The text should be within the range of 2000 to 3000 words. The font used should be Times New Roman with, font size 12, and numbered pages.
  • Each entry must include a title page, not considered text, with the following information:

          a. Title

          b. Author's name

          c. Name, address and telephone number of participant

          d. Name, address and telephone number of participant’s school/ institution,

  • References should be included and clearly identified.
  • Entries will not be returned to the author; they become property of the Bank of Mauritius.
  • The Bank may reprint the reports in educational publications and use them at economic education workshops. Appropriate citations will be given to the writers.
  • Participants should be prepared to make a PowerPoint presentation at the Bank, if required.

Judging

  • A panel will judge and rate the entries using the five criteria listed below.
 

I. Comprehension (1-20 points)

How well does the report reflect a thorough comprehension of the issues involved?

II. Organization (1-20 points)

Does the argument follow a logical and easily understood progression? Does corroborating evidence support the main points?

III. Conclusions (1-20 points)

Do the conclusions follow logically from the argument? How compelling are the conclusions?

IV. Creativity (1-20 points)

Creative angle on the issue

V. Writing (1-20 points)

Correct grammar, spelling, punctuation. Concise language.

  • The decision of the panel will be final.
