Banking Your Future Art Competition Rules

Eligibility Requirements

The competition targets two categories of participants namely:

  •  All Primary school children; and

 

  •  Secondary school children, up to the age of 16.

All participants must be a citizen of the Republic of Mauritius, and currently enrolled in either a primary or secondary school.

Closing Date

The closing date for the competition is 30 September 2014.

Rules

All entries must comply with the following:

1. Group participation will be accepted on behalf of schools, and a special prize will be awarded to the institution with the most entries.

2. Only one (1) entry may be submitted per participant or group.

3. All submissions must be accompanied by a duly completed form, as set out below.

4. The following information should be affixed to all submissions:
a. Name, age, home address, email address and telephone number;
b. Category and title of entry;
c. School name, address, email address, telephone number and teacher’s name;
d. Signature of responsible party or teacher.

5. Each submission must reflect the participant’s own research and creative skills.

6. The work must be authentic, and belong to the artists subscribed as participants to the competition.

7. The work must be able to showcase participants’ conceptual imagination, individualism and skillful use of materials.

8. Sculptures must be free standing or mounted on appropriate bases. There will be no restriction on material used, however, the size must be reasonable and not exceed one cubic meter.

9. Paintings and drawings must be presented in a clear and reasonable manner. The inclusion of frames is at the discretion of participants.

10. Pastels and works prone to smudging must be fixed using an appropriate sealant.

11. All submissions must be certified as original and unaided work and any source of imagery must be properly referenced at the time of entry.

14. All works once submitted will not be returned to participants and will become the property of the Bank of Mauritius. Appropriate citations will be given to participants where necessary.

Judging Criteria

All submissions will be equally assessed on the following the criteria:

1. Creative use of materials (1-25);

2. Presentation (1-25);

3. Originality of work (1-25); and

4. Adhesion to the chosen theme (1-25).

A panel will assess the entries, and its decision will be final.
