Bank of Mauritius welcomes Ms Christine Lagarde, Managing Director of the IMF

The Bank of Mauritius (the Bank) welcomed today Ms Christine Lagarde, Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

Ms Lagarde paid a courtesy call on Mr Rundheersing Bheenick, Governor, Bank of Mauritius. Ms Lagarde and Governor Bheenick discussed matters of bilateral interest and reviewed the excellent state of relations between the Bank and the IMF.

Ms Lagarde also visited the AFRITAC South Office housed at the premises of the Bank of Mauritius. She expressed her appreciation to the Bank for “being such a generous host for the AFRITAC South Office.

It will be recalled that the AFRITAC South is the 4th AFRITAC Centre established in Africa. It started operations on 17 October 2011 and caters for the capacity building needs of 13 countries in Southern Africa.

The visit of Ms Lagarde to Mauritius was also the opportunity to exchange the financing documents with Mauritius for the new Africa Training Institute of the IMF, due to start operations in mid-2013.
