The Bank of Mauritius launches the ‘Banking Your Future Art Competition’

On 6 June 2014, the Bank of Mauritius released a Report entitled, ‘Banking Your Future: Towards a Fair & Inclusive Banking Sector’, which proposes 100 Recommendations for a new banking sector. The Report is open for public consultation up to 6 October 2014. The public consultation exercise gives the opportunity to citizens of the Republic of Mauritius to share their views on the reform initiative.

In this context, the Bank of Mauritius is launching the ‘Banking Your Future Art Competition’ which aims at creating awareness in school children of the importance of banking in a modern society, and awakening them to their responsibility in shaping the banking industry of tomorrow.

The Bank of Mauritius values the creativity and innovation that Art can bring to the development of young people, and is therefore pleased to invite children of Mauritius and Rodrigues to participate in the ‘Banking Your Future Art Competition’.

Budding young artists, it is an opportunity for you to use your creative talent to express yourselves through your own original works. Use any of the following media: Sculpture, Drawing, Painting, Print, Collage or any other pictorial representation, to illustrate one of the themes below:

1. Banking in 20 years’ time
2. The ideal relationship between a bank and its customer
3. The wonders of a bank account
4. An illustration of any recommendation made in the Report ‘Banking Your Future:
Towards a Fair & Inclusive Banking Sector’.

The ‘Banking Your Future Art Competition’ is open to two categories of students in Mauritius and Rodrigues, all primary school children, and secondary school students, up to the age of 16.

The best submission in each category will be awarded the ‘Banking Your Future Trophy’ and the two best submissions in each category will be awarded cash prizes of Rs20,000 and Rs10,000 respectively.
