The Bank announces that, by virtue of section 14(1) of the Bank of Mauritius Act 2004, the President of the Republic, acting on the recommendation of the Prime Minister, has appointed Mr Issa Mohamad Soormally as Second Deputy Governor of the Bank.
Born in 1972, Mr Soormally holds a professional qualification in banking from France and has recognized experience in banking matters. During his seventeen years experience holding various positions with double A-rated banks, Mr Soormally has risen in the ranks and is today, Senior Vice President at the Bramer Banking Corporation Ltd.
Mr Soormally will join the Bank on 15 October 2013 and will take over from the outgoing Second Deputy Governor, Mr Iqbal Mohammed Belath.
